FULL DISCLOSURE ... THIS IS A REMANUFACTURED ITEM THAT WAS ORIGINALLY IN PRODUCTION IN THE 1970s AND 1980s.  THERE MAY BE MINOR POCKING OR DISCOLORATION OF SHAFT AND ENDSHEILD SURFACES, BUT NOTHING THAT IMPACTS FUNCTIONALITY.
<p class="xmsonormal"><u><span style="font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;">THE NATURE OF A SERIES DC MOTOR/SERIES CART SYSTEM:  </span></u><span style="font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;">Series cart systems are very sensitive to changes in load.  The most noticeable time you would see this is on hilly terrain.  A series cart will slow down as you start to climb a hill and will slow down even more the steeper the grade.  </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;">When you begin to go downhill, the speed will increase, even to the point of being dangerous if the terrain is steep.  The driver should use the brakes to avoid motor overspeed as the motor will not limit the speed.  </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;">Unfortunately, these reactions are the nature of a series DC motor. While we might be able to make this slightly more or less sensitive, this nature will be present no matter what custom design we provide.  Be cautious when working with a series cart.  Never operate a series motor, especially at full voltage, with little to no load (wheels up).  If you want to make sure a series motor works after servicing the vehicle, depress the throttle only about 10% to avoid damage that would not be considered a warranty claim.</span></p>]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Vintage Hitachi 5BC48JB691B, 16 tooth external spline model for 36v Club Car Series DC Motor.  This motor is fully remanufactured to OEM factory specification and tested to quality standards.

This model replaced the Hitachi MT320-07 back in the 1980s when GE won the business from Club Car instead of Hitachi.

Interchangeable with many GE and Baldor motors produced in late 70's and early 80's such as 5BC48JB261, 5BC48JB261A, 5BC48JB557, 5BC48JB557A, 5BC48JB642A, 5BC48JB691, 5BC48JB691A, 5BC48JB691B, 5BC48JB715, 5BC48JB718, 5BC48JB718A, 5BC48JB719, 45-222W16, 45-29W02, MT320-07 and others.  (May have slightly different terminal locations.  It is recommended to verify that this motor will fit before ordering.)

Expected top speed on stock Club Car, 48V (lead acid battery pack), 18" tires, driver only in free still air on hard flat level ground is 18-19 MPH.  Slightly higher top speed expected with appropriate lithium ion battery pack due to slightly higher voltage and reduced weight.  Similarly, larger OD tires will increase top speed, but not "linearly".... i.e.  changing to a tire 20% larger in OD will not increase top speed by 20%.  (For example, 22" tires, lead acid pack, 200# driver only, free still air, flat level ground calculated top speed ~20-22 MPH.)
